Thomas Klein

Repertoire Nacho Duato

Born in Stuttgart, he completed his dance education at the John Cranko Ballet Academy. 

His dance career started in 1986 at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden. Two years later, he was contracted by Patrick Dupond as a first soloist at the 'Ballet National de Nancy' (France), where he has performed numerous solo roles from choreographers such as Hans van Manen, Nils Christie, Roland Petit, Ulysses Dove, George Balanchine, Birgit Cullberg, Jose Limon and Antonio Gades. 

After a year at the 'Ballet de Lyon' under the direction of Yorgos Loukos, his way led him in 1994 to Madrid (Spain), where he danced for the next ten years as a first soloist at the 'Compañía Nacional de Danza' under the direction of Nacho Duato, also working with choreographers such as Jiří Kylían, Ohad Naharin, Mats Ek and William Forsythe. 

Since 2004 he has devoted himself to the worldwide setting of Nacho Duato’s choreographies. In 2007 he returned to the 'Compañía Nacional de Danza' as ballet master and choreographic assistant of Nacho Duato. 

In addition to his work as a ballet master, he took over the role of Artistic Coordinator under the direction of Hervé Palito. As an independent artist he was since 2011 setting Duatos ballets, working as a choreographic assistant, ballet master and has conducted numerous workshops.

In 2015 followed three years as a ballet master at the 'Staatsballett Berlin' Thomas Klein is currently working again as a choreographic assistant and ballet master.
